<SYmbiosis>Ep: A Musical Odyssey of East and West

In the ethereal glow of Norway's aurora borealis, the warm, profound tones of the ancient Chinese guzheng meet the cool, relaxed melodies of the Nordic trumpet, creating a transcendent musical encounter that bridges continents and cultures. Celebrated Chinese guzheng virtuoso

Chang Jing (soloist of <Spring River Flower Moon Night> at the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony) and Norwegian trumpet maestro Nils Petter Molvær (a national treasure of Norway) have come together under the theme of "Symbiosis." Beneath the shimmering lights of the aurora and a star-studded sky, they improvised three poetic compositions: “月下逢First Met”, “思千载Echoes", and "共潮生Symbiosis".

On Valentine's Day, February 14, 2025, this cross-cultural and timeless musical dialogue will be released worldwide, capturing the eternal resonance of human emotion through the language of music.

"Aurora, Time, and the Symphony of Life"

1. 月下逢First Met – A First Meeting of Light and Shadow

The guzheng pours forth like moonlight, while the trumpet's improvisations swirl like the aurora. Under the silent Nordic night sky, the two instruments engage in their first conversation. Chang Jing weaves the poetic essence of Spring River Flower Moon Night with the spontaneity of Nordic jazz, while Nils Petter responds with the breath-like phrasing of his trumpet, evoking the dance of the aurora and moonlight.

2. 思千载Echoes – The Resonance of Folded Time

The guzheng's plucked notes ripple like waves in the river of history, while the trumpet's sustained tones echo like ancient calls. Chang Jing channels the spiritual depth of her “Book of Songs” series, using the guzheng to command the gathering and dispersing of clouds and wind. Nils Petter, with his avant-garde jazz style, twists the fabric of time, transporting listeners into a meditative journey across millennia.

3. 共潮生Symbiosis – The Energy of Converging Seas

The trumpet's soaring tones evoke vast, misty waters, while the guzheng's pulsating rhythms shimmer like a galaxy of stars. Together, these two instruments symbolize the dynamic clash and fusion of Eastern and Western cultures, culminating in a powerful harmony that mirrors the awe-inspiring force of the aurora.
